Bild reports that Manchester City right-back Yan Couto is on the verge of joining Borussia Dortmund as the clubs are close to reaching an agreement on a transfer fee.
Currently, City are holding out for €30m on the right-back, who has never played a game for them, while Dortmund’s most recent offer is €20m plus €5m in add-ons. Dortmund already have an agreement with the 22-year-old in place.
As negotiations progress it is entirely possible that Couto could join up with his new teammates next Thursday as Dortmund travel to their pre-season training camp in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland.
Couto has spent the last two seasons on loan at City Football Group club Girona, who will receive none of the transfer fees that City is demanding.
On other transfers, Dortmund remain at a standoff with Brighton when it comes to Pascal Groß. The Premier League side wants €10m, while Dortmund are only offering €8m. Groß has one year left on his contract at the Seagulls and they would be happy to keep him for another year and let him run his contract down.
The fee paid for Couto also means that Rayan Cherki is unlikely to move to Signal Iduna Park as Dortmund does not have the money to fund a transfer. This could potentially change if someone does leave the club, such as Karim Adeyemi who is attracting interest from Juventus.
