Brooks Koepka didn’t mince words about his LIV Golf teammate Matthew Wolff.

Koepka, who captains the Smash GC squad, tore into Wolff during an interview with Sports Illustrated as friction between teammates seemed to reach a new level.

Wolff’s status with the LIV Golf team has been somewhat of a question over the past month as he was scrubbed from some of the team’s social media accounts after he withdrew from LIV’s event in Washington, DC, in May due to an apparent injury.

The injury occurred during a mandatory early morning workout led by Koepka, according to “The Shotgun Start” podcast.

“I mean, when you quit on your round, you give up and stuff like that, that’s not competing,” Koepka said about Wolff to Sports Illustrated. “I’m not a big fan of that. You don’t work hard. It’s very tough.

“It’s very tough to have even like a team dynamic when you’ve got one guy that won’t work, one guy is not going to give any effort, he’s going to quit on the course, break clubs, gets down, bad body language, it’s very tough.

“I’ve basically given up on him — a lot of talent, but I mean the talent’s wasted.”

The blistering comments come as Wolff has struggled in recent LIV events after a hot start to the year.

He finished top-44 in an event in Australia and followed it up with a T41 finish in Singapore and T30 in Oklahoma.

Wolff told Sports Illustrated that he was trying to do what he could to help his team and that he was healthy.

“I’m here, you know, trying to do what I can to play the best round of golf and that’s going to help the team,” Wolff said. “I’m just here to focus on myself and try to play some good golf and that’s what everyone’s really trying to do because golf is trying to put the best score up and then if that helps your team it’s great.”

Wolff was asked if he wanted to be on another team, but he shook his head and walked away, Sports Illustrated reported.

Wolff is 27th on LIV Golf’s money list, with the top 24 guaranteed a spot on the same teams in LIV next season.

Under the relegation rules, players finishing between 25-44 are safe from relegation but are open to trades or releases by their respective teams.

Considering the way Koepka has talked about Wolff, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine that Wolff could be playing for a new team next season.
