Justin Thomas will return to defend his crown having won the 2022 edition after beating Will Zalatoris in a nailbiting playoff.

The Oak Hill course is a 7400-yard beast and features two holes over 600 yards long.

Given the course’s location in Rochester, NY, low temperatures are expected as is a small patch of rain, although it’s not anticipated to interrupt proceedings too much.

What’s worth noting is the 2023 PGA Championship is the first one at the recently-renovated Oak Hill course.

Oak Hill last hosted the major in 2013 but underwent renovations from 2019 to 2020, meaning it will be a new-look course for many of the stars competing.

One major change was the removal of several big trees and it’s set to help a certain type of player.

“I think Oak Hill is an all-time driver’s golf course, where the fairways are typically 26 to 28 yards wide, and you’re seriously out of position if you’re in the rough,” Jeff Sluman, a consultant on the redesign of the course, told Golf Digest.

“You really have to drive the ball straight, even though off the tee there’s more room now to swing a ball left to right or right to left.”

With a redesigned course set to provide plenty of thrills, here’s everything you need to know about the second major on the golf calendar.
