Min Woo Lee will look to become the first player in 12 years to do the PGA Australia – Australian Open double as he goes into the final round of the Australian Open tied for the lead with Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino at -13.

Both players made par to open Sunday’s final round while Adam Scott was one of the big movers early, jumping seven spots up into a tie for fourth place at 11-under.

Scott recorded a bogey on his fourth hole of the day but has otherwise been perfect, rebounding with four birdies to put himself in contention.

LIVE LEADERBOARD

It comes after Scott’s best day at the Australian Open, having shot 67 in the third round to finish Saturday -8 and in a six-way tie for 12th.

Lee, meanwhile, began the third round with a three-stroke lead over the chasing pack, but some scintillating play from Hoshino evaporated the Aussie star’s lead.

The two duked it out on the final day of the Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane when Lee held off Hoshino to win the title and he’ll be hoping for a repeat in Sydney.

Lee and Hoshino share a one-stroke lead over Alex Fitzpatrick and Patrick Rodgers who are both tied for third, while Australia’s Lucas Herbert sits in outright fifth thanks to a stunning third round.

Herbert jumped up 11 spots on the leaderboard to put himself in the mix for the final day.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai moved into prime position to defend her women’s title.

Australia’s world number five and two-time major winner Minjee Lee — sister of Min Woo — is third, five behind Buhai.

Lee made back-to-back birdies to open Sunday’s action in what Warren Smith described as an “early statement” in commentary from the Australian.

Defending champion Buhai, the 2022 British Open winner, opened her account on Saturday with four straight birdies, sinking one from the bunker to surge into a lead that she never relinquished.

She kept her focus for a bogey-free 67 to be 12-under for the title, leading South Korean veteran Shin Jiyai, herself a two-time British Open champion.

“It would be super special (to win again), said Buhai.

“I’ve heard it’s going to be windy (on Sunday) which suits me. I think patience is going to be key.”
