Leading Australian Supercars driver Cam Waters has this morning landed his dream drive – securing a maiden start in America’s leading NASCAR series.

Waters will debut in the world’s premier stock car series – when he races at San Francisco’s famous Sonoma road circuit on June 10 Australian time.

“This opportunity for me is a dream come true, and one that I do not take lightly given the global audience of NASCAR and the Cup Series,” Waters said.

“I’ve been fortunate to dip my toes into the NASCAR waters a bit this year and am excited to put my road-racing experience to the test this summer.”

Waters will race a third car for the powerful RFK Racing Team – which was a last start winner in the series with team co-owner Brad Keselowski on Monday at Darlington.

“Brad has been so helpful and so welcoming of me so I was thrilled to see him have his success this past weekend,” Waters said.

“There’s no excuses for me now – this team is a proven race winner so it’s obviously a really, really exciting opportunity.”

Waters’ NASCAR debut isn’t a cheap exercise – and he has landed a unique sponsorship that the great fictional stock car character Ricky Bobby would be proud of.

His Ford will be backed by a trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States through their BuildSubmarines program.

“It takes a village to make something like this come to fruition, so I especially want to thank the team at BuildSubmarines.com and AUKUS for giving me this opportunity to highlight their security partnership,” Waters said.

“I’ll long cherish this deal and I’m enormously thankful to everyone who has made it happen.”

Waters follows in the footsteps of former Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen who is now racing full-time in America’s NASCAR series.

This weekend Waters returns to the wheel of his Ford Mustang in the Australian Supercars Championship in Perth for Round 4 of the season.

Opening practice begins on Friday ahead of two races across the weekend – will all action live and exclusive on Fox Sports.
