In the round-up: Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur says he would be open to working with outgoing driver Carlos Sainz Jnr again in the future.
In brief
Vasseur would work with Sainz again
Vasseur said he would consider signing Carlos Sainz Jnr as a driver for his team in the future, even though he has let him go in favour of Lewis Hamilton for 2025.
Asked if he would consider working with Sainz again in the future after he leaves the team, Vasseur said “yes, for sure.”
“Honestly, I have a huge respect for Carlos and what he did for Ferrari,” he said. “As you know, this call was not an easy one. But he’s doing a very good job. He was able to stay professional in these tough conditions.
“I can see perfectly what he’s bringing to the team, what he brought to the team last year and he was part of the recovery last year when we had a tough momentum in the summer and I’m more than pleased to have Carlos and I will keep a very good relationship with him.”
Oakes an “exceptional guy” – Doohan
Alpine’s 2025 race driver Jack Doohan says he is looking forward to working with team principal Oliver Oakes again after their previous history together.
“I’ve worked with Oliver in the past in Formula 3, when I raced with him in Hitech,” Doohan told The Fast and the Curious podcast. “He’s an exceptional guy. Great personality, great atmosphere and carries himself very, very well – which is important in the Formula 1 world, especially when we have a team with a lot of people.
“There’s still a lot of people that obviously need to get to know Oliver and him needing to get to know a lot of people as well. But I feel like we’re taking the necessary steps in order to get back to where you want to be.”
IndyCar bringing alternate tyres to season finale
IndyCar has announced that it will bring Firestone’s alternate compound tyres to the season finale oval race at the Nashville Superspeedway next weekend.
Typically, IndyCar uses only the primary compound tyres for oval races. However, they have introduced the alternate compound for this weekend. Each driver must use at least two sets of alternates and one set of primaries during the race.
It is the second time that the alternate compound will be used in an oval race after a test in last year’s race at Gateway.

Raikkonen on returning to the F1 paddock, son Robin’s karting skills and his namesake Antonelli (F1)
”When there’s been time when we’ve been home and it’s been on TV, I watch, I still have the interest, but I don’t know everything like I used to know, obviously. But it’s good. It’s interesting to see always how it goes. It looks like things are getting closer now in the racing, so it’s good for F1 and all the fans.”
”These small-business owners brought their substantial damages and the existential threat caused by F1 to their businesses to the attention of Clark County and F1. For months they sought a fair and just solution to this devastating issue, however, to no avail. Repeated assurances of a resolution never materialised. They have no choice but to ask an impartial third party to remedy their financial losses and to prevent their businesses from going under because of F1.”

When I joined the McLaren team in ’93, it took me a couple of years, until I reached my first victory in ’97.
But I knew that the team was going to get the car to the point for me one day where I can win. And I think that’s what Lando Norris has experienced. pic.twitter.com/SqfnOjKUoS
