The heir has reclaimed his throne. Carlos Alcaraz has made history this Sunday in Paris by winning his first Roland Garros crown after beating the German, Alexander Zverev, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 after four hours and 17 minutes of engagement.

The 21-year-old Spaniard wins his third Grand Slam trophy after winning the 2022 US Open and 2023 Wimbledon, making him the youngest player in history to win a Major trophy on each different surface.

With a varied game, with power, explosiveness, intelligence and a lot of courage, “Carlitos” has also earned the applause and recognition of many, overcoming physical problems and great rivals to take the baton from his idol, Rafael Nadal, considered the “king” of clay with 14 titles in the second Grand Slam of the season.

He did not arrive at his best moment, he had just overcome the injury in his right forearm that forced him to miss Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome, but he made it very clear that he did not need many matches to return to his best version and after last year’s triumph in the Cathedral of tennis, Alcaraz returns to add in the highest category with his third Grand Slam in a very young career that is breaking huge records and that place him as the prodigy of the best tennis in the world. Carlos Alcaraz’s old coach Carlos Santos talked about the 3-time Grand Slam champion.

Carlos Santos is a great fan of Carlos Alcaraz: “It was played on a beautiful court under the Eiffel Tower. He lost in the semi-finals, in the third set tie-break. Afterwards, they took us to the Philippe-Chatrier to watch a match and to the players’ dining room. It was a good week, tennis players and coaches lived together, we took a walk along the Seine. A wonderful experience for Carlitos and me.”

The native of Murcia, the seventh in the Open Era to win his first three Grand Slam finals, won the match between two players who were making their debut in the final of the tournament held in the French capital, managing his nerves and his entire arsenal of shots to prevail with his explosive forehand, his drop shot and his reflexes.
