Ivan Ljubicic, in an interview with Sky Sport, spoke about who are the main favourites at Wimbledon. The former coach analyzed the moments of the main Big (Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic above all) and how they will arrive at the London tournament.
The first considerations of the 45-year-old have been for Jannik Sinner, new number one in the world and recently winner of the Atp 500 in Halle (the only one to succeed from first in the standings together with Roger Federer, player that Ljubicic coached from 2016 to 2022).
“I think it’s a beautiful example for young people. Not that others are not but he has a particular way of doing things: he does not get excited when he wins and does not make a drama when he loses. He does his job, he does what he says: his greatest talent is to get to work.
Jannik is like that, the character does not change him and he will continue like this and this will take him very high. How high? We’ll see. He just won his first Slam and now continues to win more tournaments” is the opinion of the former tennis player.
Wimbledon is very close
“Wimbledon is now around the corner. Federer has won a lot after conquering Halle. Let’s see if it will be the turn of Sinner” Ivan Ljubicic also added in the interview.
Then the native of Banja Luka went off on the big favorites for the event: “Before the Roland Garros there were so many question marks, especially from the physical point of view regarding Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic who was fine but had no race rhythm.
Now everything is different: it seems that Sinner and Alcaraz are fine and they are the favorites. Nole had surgery, but he’s gonna try to be there. That would be great, but right now, my favorites are Jannik and Carlitos.
The first three to four rounds will tell us in what condition all the protagonists are. If the best will survive the first week, they will become more and more favorites,” he concluded.
