Novak Djokovic says it’s the first time in his career that he doesn’t want to talk or think about his future as he just wants to enjoy accomplishing one of his biggest dreams and the thing he has been seeking for a very long time.

As you probably already know, 37-year-old Djokovic became an Olympic gold medalist on Sunday after beating Carlos Alcaraz in a high-level final in Paris. By adding a gold medal to his resume, the Serb now officially has it all – the all-time Grand Slam and world No. 1 records, as well as an Olympic gold medal.

For many years – especially in the last couple of years – Djokovic openly spoke about how he absolutely did not want to finish his career without a gold medal. And now that he has it, the 37-year-old Serb wants to take some time for himself before deciding his next steps.

Djokovic: It has been a long journey…

“I don’t know. To be honest, probably for the first time in my career I don’t want to make plans or talk about what’s next because I worked for this medal so hard, for so many years. I sacrificed a lot. It’s been a long journey. And I really want to enjoy it for as much as I possibly can, be in the moment and then think about what’s happening next,” Djokovic said.

This week, the Montreal Masters is starting. To no one’s surprise, Djokovic is not playing since as it was clear from the start that going from clay to hard in such a short time was impossible.

However, Djokovic is still on the Cincinnati Masters list – and if he doesn’t decide to also withdraw from Cincinnati – he could start his summer on hard courts in 10 days.

In late August and early September, Djokovic will try to win the US Open and become the first-ever player in tennis history with 25 Slams.
